Mark Quasim Bennett is a multi-talented community activist, spoken word artist, graphic artist, and job readiness instructor from Hollis, NY. He has always had a passion to help others succeed.
Since the time he was a boy scout planning his eagle scout project, he has been encouraged to utilize his hands as well as his voice to help others. So, Mark joined multiple activist groups such as Black Campus Progressives and Long Island Progressive Coalition while he attended Hampton University to try to make an impact on the community around him.
Post-college, he was employed by Fedex Office (then Fedex Kinkos), where a friend took him under his wing and taught him the basics of Graphic Design. Mark learned quickly and developed his own technique for creating flyers. After leaving Fedex Office, he found a job at the Economic Opportunity Commission of Nassau County as a Job Readiness Instructor. He developed and created an entire 8 week curriculum for men and women teaching them various Job Readiness Skills that greatly increase the number of people who obtained a job through their program. During the process he edited and honed his lesson plan to place where even if he was not available, an Intern could teach the course. The Executive team at the Economic Opportunity Commission of Nassau County, Inc. noticed his outstanding results and appointed as the Director of the Displaced Homemakers Program, a statewide program which focuses on helping men and women who are displaced from their employment and need assistance with finding another position. Since then, even though he does not currently work for the EOC anymore, still helps community members on ways to get a job.
